Alas, My Love…
It’s been almost a month now I am still grasping at the reality of my beloved, Jamie, being gone. Though I am overwhelmed with joy at knowing his suffering is no longer, and that he went in peace to our Lord, I feel as if I walk with a limp. My heart bleeds incessantly. I think of my dear neighbor who laid his beloved to rest just a few months before. Forty years married, I think he said. Gosh… Jamie and I were together for eight, married for seven. I just could not imagine… Truly, I do understand what the Bible meant when God said, “…they shall become one….” (Genesis 2:24) There are just no words, but to say, “Alas, my love, until we meet again.”
There are so many people that knew and loved Jamie! While I’ve been doing and handling all the stuff that comes with such a loss, I am amazed at the numbers of folks whose instant reaction was, “My heart is broken.” at the news that he is no longer with us. In those wee hours of November 12, I could swear I even heard the angles gasp as his last breath left him. Jamie was truly an absolutely priceless soul.
For those who did not see, you can find the obituary at the Redmond Funeral Home website: https://www.redmonfuneralhome.com/obituary/james-jamie-mima
Since my husband was cremated and not buried in a cemetery, I constructed a memorial in our front yard. I understand the need for folks to have a place to go and “visit” a loved one that has passed. So, my Christmas gift to Jamie this year and to all who love him is providing that place for you.

Feel free to come visit whenever. You can see in the photo (above) there is a small bench upon which you may rest for a bit, if you like. The little, white thing that looks like a house is actually a beehive. Not for real! No worry. No real bees in it 😉 This past summer Jamie’s favorite movie became The Bee Keeper, with Jason Statham. I bet he watched it at least five times in one weekend! The first time, though, I watched it with him. It’s awesome. And so fitting. Since then, I started calling Jamie “my bee keeper.” Thus, the memorial is a beehive. You will see, if you visit, a small bucket hanging from the tree, just in front of the hive. There are adorable, little bees in there, so when you visit you can put one in the hive. (There is a little hole in the upper part.)
The best part, though, you will have to find in person. It’s on the back side of the hive. But until then it’s a secret! So, sshh! if you get here first 😉
You find Jamie’s Memorial at: 3856 Northview Dr. Stow. And you need not feel compelled to knock on my door, if you want to just have some private time there.
It is my prayer for you all that you will find here a peaceful place, in hope to offer some relief as we all grieve a truly great loss.
